Saudi Arabia recorded on April 26, Sunday 1,223 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country to 17,522, according to a statement by the Ministry of Health.

The ministry also recorded 3 new fatalities after 1 Saudi national and 2 non-Saudis died during the period, raising the death toll to 139. The ages of the deceased range between 39 and 72 years.

An additional 142 people have recovered within the past 24 hours, raising the total number of coronavirus recoveries to 2,357, SPA quoted the ministry’s spokesman as saying.

Minister said earlier this week that the spike in the number of daily reported coronavirus cases is due to cases being detected by the expanded field testing programs.
