The curfew order requires all people to stay in homes during the curfew hours (7 pm until 6 am) for their own safety.
Violators of the curfew will face a fine of SR10,000 ($2,665), and repeat offenders could be sent to prison for up to 20 days if they repeatedly break the law, the Saudi Ministry of Interior said Monday.
Second time violators will also be forced to pay double the amount of the initial fine, the ministry of Interior said.
King Salman on Sunday announced the implementation of a nation-wide curfew for 11 hours every night to slow down the spread of deadly coronavirus.
51 new cases of the virus reported today, which raised the total number of cases in the Kingdom to 562.
The order urged citizens and residents alike to stay in their homes during the curfew hours between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. and not to go outside unless necessary.
