Kingdom recorded its first baby born to a coronavirus (COVID-19) infected mother after an Afghan resident gave birth in the city of Madinah, media reported.
The baby named Omar was delivered at the Ohud Hospital in Madinah on April 9, 2020 and is being considered the first case in Saudi Arabia of being born to a coronavirus (COVID-19) infected mother.
“The Afghan woman came to Ohud Hospital on March 30, 2020 and was showing coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms. She was given the necessary care and gave birth to a baby boy on April 9, 2020.
Both mother and son are doing well and are in good health condition,” Moayad Aboonq, a spokesperson for the health ministry in Madinah, told the state television.
