Accoring to Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Friday,
Jawazat (GDP) has begun renewing iqamas (residency permits) for all expatriates free of charge for a period of 3 months.

The decision follows the directives of the King Salman to ease the effects of the covid-19 pandemic in the private sector.

The Directorate General of Passports (Jawazat) said that the decision would include all expatriates in and outside the Kingdom who work in the private sector in commercial and industrial professions.

The SPA stated that the free iqama renewal will be done only for those whose iqama cards expiry period is between 18th Mar, 2020 to 30th Jun, 2020.
The affected individuals will be notified of the extension by text message.

The “Muqeem identity card” holder can renew it by Absher or via the “Muqeem” e-port, and there is no need to contact the Jawazat offices personally, the Jawazat added.

The decision is the latest effort by the Saudi gov’t to address the financial and economic disruption caused by the global corovid-19 pandemic.
