Tourist visas that expired during the suspension of international flights due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak will be extended automatically free of charge for 3 months, Jawazat said late Tuesday in a statement carried by SPA.
The move, which will be implemented with cooperation of the National Information Center, comes as part of continuous efforts of the Saudi government to mitigate the economic impact of precautionary measures taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to ensure the health and safety of citizens and residents alike.
The statement added that tourist visas will be extended automatically through the system with the help of the NIC without the need for visa holders to visit Jawazat headquarters.
Saudi Arabia’s authorities have also decided to ease some restrictions put in place over COVID-19 fears, allowing movement and resumption of some economic and commercial activities, SPA reported early Tuesday May 26.
The move also allows restarting of domestic flights, opening of mosques, cafes and restaurants and work attendance, however, the temporary suspension of Umrah pilgrimage remains in force.
