The Ministry of Health on Sunday (April 19, 2020) reported 1,088 new virus cases and 5 new coronavirus-related deaths, raising the total number of confirmed cases in the Saudi Arabia to 9,362 and the number of fatalities to 97.
The new deaths are all non-citizens and involve 4 people who live in Makkah, and 1 person who resides in Jeddah, the ministry spokesman said.
The patients who died of the coronavirus were between the ages of 37 to 64, and the majority suffered from chronic illnesses.
Out of the 1,088 new cases, 251 were found in Makkah, 177 in Madinah, 210 in Jeddah, 194 in Dammam,123 in Hufof and 85 were reported in Riyadh.The other new cases were reported in other areas across Saudi Arabia.
A total of 1,398 people have recovered from the virus in the Kingdom so far. The spokesman said that 17 % of the new cases were of Saudi citizens, while 83 % were expatriates.
Medical teams are actively conducting coronavirus screenings across the country.
More than 180,000 tests have been conducted in Saudi Arabia so far, the spokesman of MOH said.
